SEO Tactics Then and Now

rss logoSearch Engine Optimization has always been a great tool in boosting a website’s page rank and in generating traffic towards it. Since its conception in the early 2000’s, countless strategies had been created to ensure that a site would reach its ultimate goal of being at the top of search results. While there are tried and tested methods when it comes to SEO, some simply lead to unfulfilled goals and even penalties from Google.

Keyword Stuffing is a tactic as old as search optimization itself. Nowadays, with Google’s stricter standards, it is wiser to use them naturally and in the right context to create quality content.

Hidden Text may have worked before but white text over white background is simply no match for Google’s advanced algorithms.

Spammy blog comments as a form of link building are also now passé when it comes to SEO. Google suggests that it is better to come up with actual commentary on blog posts and build relationships and focus on generating quality content.

Finally, crap content that gets submitted to thousands of directory sites just don’t work anymore. There had been reports about sites being penalized for doing so. Google urges webmasters to generate high quality articles instead that users will definitely need instead of investing in such efforts.
